As a saxophonist I am predominantly involved in classical, contemporary and free improvised music, with some jazz & funk from time to time.
My main commitment and focus is promoting the saxophone in a classical context as a respected solo instrument. I have always been fascinated by the instruments freedom and versatility, with my key saxophonic influences coming from the British school of saxophone; Andy Scott, Simon Haram and Rob Buckland in producing an open, expressive approach and sound of playing.
Taking this one step further I am co-founder and lead developer of the Tenor Saxophone Index with international saxophonist and composer Andy Scott. Click the logo below to find out more...
I lead a saxophone & piano duo and contemporary chamber ensemble Interference Trio with whom I perform and develop new & exciting music.
Recently I have teamed up with one of my saxophonic heroes free improv legend Paul Dunmall and will now feature on Paul's next release on the FMR Records label with plans to record a full free improv duo record in late 2012!
I also play regularly with Dusty Pocket a fantastic new band creating top original funk, 60s jazz & hip-hop grooves. Check out our recently recorded EP written by two of the members Oscar Reynolds and Mikayl Dawood, Titled 'Smokey'.
